The Ruidoso-blog will focus primarily on real estate, community events and lifestyle in Ruidoso and Lincoln County, New Mexico with the following mission:

• To provide our visitors with new insights into Ruidoso community, lifestyle and real estate topics.
• To assist people considering Lincoln County for a primary or second home to better understand the real estate market with frequent reporting on relevant topics.
• Open a two-way dialogue on these topics, encouraging readers to comment and express their opinions.
• To use Web 2.0 tools, including RSS & email updates, video & podcast updates, to keep our readers informed and up-to-date on happening and changes in the Ruidoso area and real estate market.

Who writes the Ruidoso-blog ?

The main author is Mary Weaver, Associate Broker, Prudential Lynch Realty, Ruidoso and Mark Stambaugh, web marketing specialist.

What is a blog ?

A blog or “web-log”, is an online journal of commentary, news, and analysis of a particular subject. Blog articles are usually displayed in reverse chronological order and are updated frequently (sometimes daily), unlike most websites, which are typically created, then remain static, with no updates for months or years at a time. Most blogs are written by one or two people with the hopes of having readers comment and respond to the articles that the “bloggers” write. A blog allows the reader to get to know the author, and decide if that is the person they would like to work with.

Why not have “just an old fashioned website?”

Websites are static, and are more difficult to update with changing news and information. Websites are presented as “one way information” and are usually not “conversational” or setup to allow for comments and feedback from users. Search engines treat blog content as fresh and more up to date / relevant content, and generally rank blog articles higher.

Why a blog about Ruidoso, New Mexico?

Ruidoso is a unique and rapidly growing area nestled in the Sacramento Mountains of south-eastern New Mexico. Like an oasis, rising out of the desert with mountain peaks soaring to 12,000 feet above sea level, Ruidoso has long been a “get-away” from the heat of the plains below. The area is often called “The Playground of the Southwest”, as most people who visit here, do so with the intention of having a good time. There is never a shortage of things to do. Depending on the season, available activities might include: skiing, horse-racing, gambling, golfing, shopping, gallery hopping, wine-tasting…just to name a few. Sitting on a deck and watching the wildlife walk by is also a popular past-time.

Thousands of people across the USA and other countries are starting to think about retiring, or at the least, locating an area in which to retire in the future. Even people in their 30s and 40s are looking for a second home or investment property. As one of the most beautiful and most affordable resort areas in the west, Ruidoso is one that these people are considering, thus the reason for this blog. We want to provide information about this area, so that people interested in relocating or investing in this area will be able to make well informed decisions. We will also provide information relevant for those already living in the area with the hopes of inspiring feedback and opinions on topics of interest to the community.
