Spring fun in New Mexico - Kite Festival in Ruidoso
April 20th, 2008 categories: Community
Spring in New Mexico is a kite flyer’s dream. Windy seems to be one of our official seasons in these parts. (”Fire” is another, but I’ll talk about that in a later post).
A local arts and crafts business, WeCree8, has graciously spent much time and energy developing a kite festival in Ruidoso. This year is their second annual event and it promises to be a fun-filled, spectacular time. UPDATE: See Photos from 2008 Kite Festival in Ruidoso - click here.
If you have a kite that you’d like to launch, please join the fun at the soccer fields located near Kids Connection Park on the corner of Hull and White Mountain. Participation is free unless you want to make your own kite at the tables provided by WeCree8. The cost for making one is just $1. Donations are always appreciated. This is a great way to have fun as a family and to see some beautiful creations. Last year brought some outstanding professionals to the area, and even more plan to attend the event next weekend. Food vendors will be on site so that you don’t have to pack a lunch. Live entertainment will be out there as well to keep things rocking along.
The festivities kick off Friday, April 25th at 1:00 and will last until 6:00 PM. You can get out there earlier on Saturday - the event runs from 9 AM-6 PM. On Sunday the field is open from noon to 5 PM. Please call Joan at WeCree8 (575-257-5575) for more information.
